This time sixty years ago there was a lot of talk concerning the reforming of a hurling club in the area. A big influence on the decision was the staging of a match at a Sports Day in Geneva Barracks on Sunday July 4th 1960 between Passage and Cheekpoint selections.
According to a small piece in the passage notes the following week no quarter was asked or given and the referee was busy. Passage were the winners.
Panels:
Passage: John Donnelly, Dick Donnelly, James Carey, John Carey, Pat Baldwin, Mickey Joe Robinson, Francis Pepper, John Furlong, John Whitty, John Hearne, James Fowler, Des Hutchinson and Willie Walsh.
Cheekpoint: Jimmy Fortune, Willie Hartley, Dick Flynn, John Hutchinson, Jim Doherty, Ned Power, Eamon Power, Enda Power, Paddy Hutchinson, Berkie Connors, Matt Doherty, Frankie Connors, Peter Hutchinson, John Sullivan and Eugene Sullivan.
It led to a meeting later in July at which the club was formed.
